Today, I got to experience what seemed like my first legitimate day off on a Tuesday. First, I hiked five miles, had a short but delicious sushi lunch with my mom, got one of the best massages in life, went to Anaheim Packing House and stuffed our faces silly..and for the grand finale, Downtown Disney! So grateful for the company of friends. It's been as a balm to my wounds in dealing with everything. The most important part right now is to keep away from being idle. I find that those times truly are the hardest. My mind just has a FIELD DAY with details, past conversations..I just end up getting more hurt and more confused.
Alone time with Christ has been exceedingly helpful in keeping a godly mindset. As I hiked on the trail this morning, I listened to many songs about the gospel and was reminded of God's love. His love PURPOSES brokenness to make us malleable for holiness. He wounds and scars us precisely because he loves us! When I reached the peak of the trail, all that I could keep on clinging to were these words, "Obedience to God will in the end, ALWAYS lead to joy." I look forward to having more times to savor God's precious thoughts towards me.
