What does it mean to be "blessed?"

hmm. I guess i'm part of them. The hoards of folks who categorize "blessings" as anything good, really. Not that that's a bad thing, its just that I learned that a truly blessed person is quite different from how we define it today.

Mr. Scotty Smith reminded me of what God's definition of a blessing is: "Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit." (Psalm 32:1-2)

Sure, a fall breeze and moments of quietness hint at eternal satisfaction of heaven, but in truth, blessings are just SO much more than that. It's stilled me some, that's for sure.

My sins, being imputed on Christ instead?
My heavy, dark, heart that naturally craves everything against God, yet, he still chose to die for me?
The blood that was shed for me?
The simple, elementary fact that God isn't mad at me? Instead, he pursues me relentlessly so?

Those are the true treasures that I have in Christ. Not only are blessings re-defined for me, I am reminded of my identity. I am the most blessed of all because who I am is not contingent on how I look, perform, act, fail, or succeed. Reality is, I have the most secure position of all: my sin is covered, and I am in Christ. God has counted no iniquity against me.
